Janet Kidd Stewart is a senior freelance business writer and columnist. She writes a weekly retirement column, The Journey, for Tribune newspapers and occasional articles for Physicians Practice magazine and other publications. Prior to her freelance career, she was a business reporter for the Chicago Tribune, where she wrote extensively about corporate bankruptcies and governance issues. She covered banking, futures, consumer products, personal finance and a variety of other industries. She was also a reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times and the Daily Herald in suburban Chicago. She was a staff writer or intern for the Rockford Register Star, The Buffalo News and the Mesa Tribune. Stewart holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
